Hongdae Free Market

Don’t be mistaken with the name of the market. They do not give out free stuff. In fact, it is a place where you can find a variety of hand-crafted goods by young artists. It is open from 1pm to 6pm on Saturdays starting from March to November. Though you won’t be getting any free stuff, it is certainly worth checking it out. You get to meet young talented artists including foreigner artists as well.

Hongdae has a lot to offer. It has a variety of choices in terms of restaurants and bars. In particular, I love Hongdae Free Market! You can get your caricatures done in various styles because each artist has different techniques. You can get unique gifts for families and friends because pretty much all of them are handmade. Some of them actually do the work on the spot and you can watch how the magic happens.

If you want to participate, you can simply go to the website and submit your application. You will need to attach photos of your work and write the descriptions. It is an inexpensive way to advertise your name out there for sure if you happen to be an artist.

If you are a singer, you can also perform at the Free Market. They do provide 8 channel mixer, speaker, 4 microphones, and stand. If you need any extra equipment, you would have to come prepared.
