Easy Stir-Fried Tteokbokki

Since I’ve been outside of Korea for approximately 4 months, I miss Korea so much. Especially it’s tteokbokki. In my previous article, I wrote about tteokbokki and I gave my self the appointed title of ” TTEOKBOKKI FREAK”. Hahaha … There are a lot of Korean restaurants in Jakarta, Indonesia, which serve tteokbokki, but I rarely have time to visit those restaurants. So I ordered instant tteokbokki online and I recooked it with my own style. Here is my stir-fried tteokbokki recipe :

Ingredients :

1. A pack of instant tteokbokki1398437023314_

7. Chopped celerychop-celery

8. 3-4 spoons of water

How To Cook :

1. Boil the egg along with the tteok

2. Aft they’re done, strain and leave them for a while.

3. If the egg is a bit chill, crack the egg skin and peel it off.

4. Prepare the fry pan, pour 1 1/2 spoons of cooking oil, heat it.

5. Saute the diced garlic and onion after the oil is heated.

6. After the nice smell from the garlic and onion is out, put sliced meatballs and shredded carrot into the fry pan and stir it well.

7. Add tteok to the fry pan and stir it for 15 seconds.

8. Pour the instant tteokbokki sauce and sow the salt and pepper as much as you want, but make sure not to make it too salty or insanely hot.

9. Stir them well and add 3-4 spoons of water. Let the sauce become a little bit dry.

10. After the sauce becomes a bit dry, put the chopped celery and mix them well.

11. After it’s cooked enough, turn the fire off.

12. Put the hard-boiled egg in the middle of the plate then pour the tteokbokki on the egg.

13. Serve it while it’s hot.

Easy, right? This tteokbokki is a bit oily since there’s oil inside, but it gives a different sensation of eating tteokbokki. The chopped celery adds a new taste and blends well with the tteokbokki sauce. If you want to make it hotter, you can add sliced chilies. This tteokbokki isn’t too saucy, but it’s still nice to be enjoyed as a snack.

Well, you can get the ingredients easily and you can make it at home if you need to munch something. Happy eating!
