The Alaka`ina Foundation Family of Companies (FOCs) are for profit companies classified as Native Hawaiian Organization (NHO)-owned. The Foundation Family of Companies (FOCs) includes Ke`aki Technologies, Laulima Government Solutions, Kūpono Government Services, and Kāpili. Alaka`ina is the parent 501(c)3 of the Alaka`ina Foundation whose activities principally benefit the youth of Hawaii. A portion of the profits generated by the FOCs helps support Alaka`ina 501(c)3 charitable efforts which includes providing innovative educational programs that combine leadership, science & technology, and environmental stewardship.

Laulima Government Solutions is seeking a Clinical Research Physician. This position will be located at Camp Hovey near Seoul City. This position requires the candidates to be U.S. Citizens and a favorable NAC background investigation completed.

Job Duties:

  • Participate in executing a clinical protocol for a phase III clinical trial comparing two smallpox vaccines, including but not limited to conducting medical histories and physical examinations, assessing clinical laboratory tests, wet reading of EKGs, assessing cardiac risk, calculating renal clearance, calculating BMI, administering vaccine, assessing adverse events and evaluating data related to the immune response and trial outcomes
  • Prepare or assist in the preparation of reports of research activities and results/outcomes for submission to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and assist with preparing manuscripts of research activities and results/outcomes for publication as assigned by Lead Principal Investigator and Site Principal Investigator.
  • Participate in meetings and presentations related to assigned duties and/or work performed.
  • As required, trains and assists coworkers and technical staff in special knowledge and skills.
  • Provide any required written summaries, reports, and other documents as needed in support of the clinical trial.
  • The contractor shall perform duties and responsibilities independently based on broad guidelines and objectives provided by the Lead and Site Principal Investigators and own initiative. Performance is evaluated based on the completeness, accuracy and timeliness of results, conformance to established policies, standards and objectives, and, effectiveness of communications and interpersonal skills.
  • Provide administrative and logistics support of trial as needed.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Knowledgeable in the areas of clinical research and regulatory affairs as they relate to clinical studies and healthcare management.
  • Staff coordination is required at the USAMRIID level and with other coordinating services or agencies.
  • The physician shall have a state medical licensure within the U.S. or U.S. territories
  • The candidate must have one of the following specialties: Board Certification in a Primary Care Specialty including Family Practice, Internal Medicine, Preventive Medicine, or Pediatrics with knowledge of adult medicine.
  • The candidate must have at least five (5) years demonstrated experience in a professional position providing guidance and technical expertise in interdisciplinary/ multi-service teams of medical professionals. This experience must include a high level of expertise gained by study and practice in an area such as internal medicine, preventive medicine, public health, travel medicine or other related field. Incumbent shall typically be regarded as an expert in his/her field of medicine.
  • The candidate must have or obtain credentialing at Camp Hovey.
  • The candidate must be GCP (Good Clinical Practice) trained or be willing to attend GCP training. Individual shall have completed  HIPAA training and will comply with proper handling of proprietary information.
  • Complete all Government training required for position and/or organization.
  • Must possess computer skills in the following computer software programs: Microsoft Office/Word and be willing to learn Excel
