One of the best subway systems in the world, Seoul City Subway System
When traveling, one of the things you have to worry about is how to get to the main part of the city from the airport. Airports are normally located so far out of the city that you cannot avoid taking a taxi sometimes depending on the country you are traveling in. Fortunately, South Korea has one of the best subway systems in the world. It is honestly the most convenient and fastest way to get around the city. The best part about it is that it is also connected to other cities nearby that are outside of Seoul.
It not only has total of 9 subway lines, but also has a few extra lines that are connected to other cities from the main Seoul metro system including Bundang Line, Jungang Line, Incheon Lin, Airport, and Gyungi line. The thing is that the Seoul city subway keeps extending the subway network within the city and to other cities as well.

That is not the only factor that I love about Seoul city subway system. The regular fair is about 1,150 KRW, which is equivalent to about $1. There is no need to buy a bus card and charge credits. Even though there is an option to pay with cash, it is unlikely to see a Korean buying a subway ticket. Majority of people use their debit card with the public transportation payment built in. If you have a debit card, you get a slight discount as well.
If there is a place you cannot get to by subway, you can also transfer to a bus that will get you there as long as you transfer within a certain time frame. For many reasons, learning how Seoul metro system works is one of the important tasks to do before your trip begins in Korea or if you plan on living in Seoul. In fact, some of my friends have paid almost $100 to get to the city by taxi. But, if you’ve got time, you can just take subway and get to the city for about $5. Here, I am going to give you a very detailed instruction as an example!
Incheon Airport Subway Station
Let’s say you need to get to Gangnam from Incheon airport. You can take an airport railroad from the airport and get to Hongik University station. Once you arrive in Hongik University station, you can transfer to the innercircle line 2. The exact cost would come out to be 4050 KRW, and it will take about 98 minutes to arrive. Enjoy the ride!
