#1. ANSAN M VALLEY ROCK FESTIVAL

Attention all Rock music fans, this festival is for you! The Ansan M Valley Rock Festival is Korea’s largest rock festival and is held annually in July. Last year’s festival was cancelled due to the MV Sewol Ferry disaster, and therefore it is a very much anticipated event this year.
The festival brings some of the biggest names in rock music from Korea, the Americas, and Europe together for three days. Participants can sleep at the festival, and all performances are held outdoors, making allot of people call this Korea’s answer to the better known Coachella Music Festival in California, USA.
Ansan M Valley Rock Festival will be held at the Daebu Sea Breeze Theme Park in Ansan City, Gyeonggi Province, a city located 30 km /19 miles south of Seoul from July 24th through July 26th.

#2. BORYEONG MUD FESTIVAL
보령머드축제
The Boryeong Mud Festival is Korea’s dirtiest festival! During this week-long festival visitors immerse themselves in many mud-filled activities, and well to keep it simple…have some dirty fun! It all began in 1998 as a marketing tool to promote Boryeong’s mud cosmetics, and has grown to attract millions of tourists from around the world every year.
The festival is held in a seaside of area of the city of Boryeong, South Chungcheong Province (about 200 km /124 miles south of Seoul) and this year will run for 10 days from Friday July 17th to Sunday July 26th.

#3. BUYEO SEODONG LOTUS FESTIVAL
부여서동연꽃축제
For all of those people who are partied out, or prefer a more quiet approach to festivals there is the Buyeo Seodong Lotus Festival. A festival held for 9 days to celebrate the beautiful lotus flowers in bloom.
The festival is held in Buyeo County, South Chungcheong Province, a small county two hours south of Seoul (nearby the city of Boryeong). The festival grounds are completely surrounded with lotus flowers, and beautiful lake scenes. There are many local foods and lotus treats to eat, and plenty of activities to do. This is a must for any nature lover, and makes a great day retreat from Seoul!
