The scene, like the country itself, has risen from obscurity to become one of the most pulsating and tantalizing destinations in the world. Electronic dance music (EDM) is played everywhere, but there are only a few clubs and promoters that spend their cover charges and sponsorship to finance international talent.

It was with no small amount of surprise that I was awoken out of my daily 1:30 pm to 4 pm slumber by an email alert.   Sensing that it wasn't just another late payment warning or office eviction notice, I frantically double-clicked, only after a thorough scouring by a variety of anti-spam, anti-virus, anti-malware, anti-phishing and other detection-of-evil software that I use for any mail ominously entitled "To the Owner of HiExpat.com."  

"Welcome to Korea.  You've got 6 hours to get yourself to your new school."  Click. Can you hear it?  The soft sound of pattering feet across Seoul's monsoon-drizzled pavement?  Yes, its that time of year again, with plenty of new teachers embarking on the Korean Adventure, filled with soon-to-be realized hopes, goals and excitement, making their curious way from Incheon airport into the deep bowels of the Peninsula.

Although HiExpat.com tends to bill our job board as "Opportunities in Korea Teaching English," we use that awkward language for other reasons then just to get your attention and have you shake your head ironically, with a tsk tsk.  

  As summer falls upon us with its unbearable humidity levels and torrential downpours, clubbers from across the peninsula will be heading out of country for a much needed reprieve from the sauna we call Seoul.
